Easton, Pennsylvania Moving Companies
North American Van Lines: The Best of Easton Moving Companies
Located along east central border of Pennsylvania, Easton is a small city with deep roots in history and progressive education. The city, which was known as the “Forks of the Delaware” to the Lenni Lanape Native Americans who used to inhabit it, sits along the banks where the Delaware and Lehigh rivers collide. Today, Easton is home to Lafayette College, and can be divided into four sections: Historic Downtown, The West Ward, The South Side and College Hill.
As of the 2012 U.S. Census, Easton has a population of about 27,000, the majority of whom are employed in manufacturing, health care and social assistance. Lafayette also contributes roughly 2,500 students and dozens of faculty members.
Easton residents enjoy a four-season climate. During the summer, highs reach mid-80s, while in the winter, temperatures get as low as 20 degrees.
Activities and attractions in Easton
Easton has a historic downtown district known for its architecture and traditions. To take a step into the past, the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence outside of Philadelphia took place in the Center Square, located downtown. Nowadays, each year during Christmas time, a memorial called Easton Peace Candle is held in the Center Square to honor Easton veterans who lost their lives in the American Civil War.
To get your bearings in the city, take a walking tour of the sites or ride in a horse-drawn carriage through the district. A unique attraction is the National Canal Museum in Hugh Moore Historic Park, which is the only museum in the U.S. that showcases the heritage of America’s towpath canals.
Bring your youngsters to the Crayola Factory, a wonderland where creativity meets color. To get a breath of fresh air, venture along the Easton Trailhead, which is located at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh rivers. For good eats, be sure to check out Ringside Restaurant, owned and operated by Larry Holmes, a former heavyweight boxing champion born and raised in Easton.
