What a Move to Lebanon Has to Offer
During the 1790s, the town of Lebanon was established by early settlers following the American Revolution. It steadily grew as stagecoaches rolled down the roads and brought pioneers from the East. By 1807, the townspeople had built a courthouse and jail, and a citizen called John McLean began distributing a weekly publication called The Western Star.
The antiquity of the town centers on the compassion and consideration of its forefathers and their followers. A strong spirit of philanthropy began in 1867 when a citizen, Mary Ann Klingling, left $40,000 in her will to create a residence for orphaned children. Various private benefactors followed, providing much-needed subsidy and backing for various community developments. In 1915, a trust was established for continuing municipal improvement projects in Lebanon.
Today, Lebanon’s community pride is still apparent in the town's welcoming nature and exceptional tidiness. The town has a Beautification Program that distinguishes residential, commercial and rental property owners who have enriched the attractiveness of the city by making improvements to their properties, such as cleaning up the grounds and planting trees, flowers and other greenery. Properties throughout the city are assessed during the months of May through October by the City's Shade Tree Commission, the local Garden Clubs and a Master Gardener.
As of the 2010 census, the population of Lebanon was 20,033. The city is located in southwestern Ohio and is the county seat of Warren County. It's part of the Cincinnati municipal region and is widely recognized as a tourist destination because of its numerous historic landmarks, annual festivals and excellent shopping. Lebanon is also home to Ohio’s oldest historic hotel, The Golden Lamb Inn, which has been visited by 12 presidents.
