On Monday, April 5, the northAmerican® Van Lines agent network and
Move For Hunger kicked off it’s first Great northAmerican Food Drive. April 5 –
11, northAmerican agents in the U.S. and Canada will be collecting non-perishable
food items in their community and delivering those donations to local food
banks on April 12.
Move For Hunger and northAmerican Van Lines have been
partners since 2013. During that time, 76 northAmerican agents have combined to
collect over 500,000 lbs of food (over 400,000 meals) and transport it to those
in need at a local food bank.
“We are thrilled to partner with northAmerican Van Lines on
this project,” says Adam Lowy, Executive Director and Founder of Move For
Hunger. They’ve been an amazing supporter of ours for many years and have
answered the call, literally, time and time again whenever there was food that
needed rescuing.”
This nationwide initiative could not come at a more
important time. Because of the pandemic, 17 million more people are struggling
to find their next meal. In total, over 54 million Americans, including 1 in 4
kids, are considered food insecure. In Canada, food banks have experienced a
76% increase in new clients, and 1 in 3 children are going hungry*.
“The northAmerican agent family has been supporting the
communities where they live and work for over 86 years,” says Kevin Murphy,
Vice President and General Manager, North American Van Lines, Inc. “As
essential employees throughout the pandemic, northAmerican agents have
witnessed first-hand the impact of COVID-19 on their communities and were ready
to help. We are proud to have such dedicated and community-focused agents in
our network and are honored to partner with an outstanding organization like Move
For Hunger.”
Many thanks to the following northAmerican agents and their teams
who have made this effort possible.
